A Christian in Today's World

Who is a Christian?
What is the present world?

A Christian is a person who adheres to Christianity, a monotheistic religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Of Nazareth.
In a proverbial sense, it means "all that is Noble, Good and Christ like". Being Christ Like means being Like Christ, for Christ lived a Holy, Righteous and Pure life on earth.
The present world or generation today is known as the 21st Century.
The question is:
*how do we imitate Christ in a world like this?
*how can Christians cope and live a Godly life in this century of modern trends and globalization?

The world today has a lot of challenges, influence and trials that is controlled by the Devil. They come in different forms such as;
*wild movies
*secular music
*friends
*fashion trends etc. which influence people especially the youths of today. But as Christians, we should see the world as "THE WORLD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GRACE"

Being Christians on our own is not easy, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we shall overcome as Christians. John 14:16 "And I will ask the father and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever".

What makes us Christians in this world today basically centers on God's Word *THE BIBLE* which provides answers to every problem. Studying and meditating on God's teachings in the Bible gives us a light to every path we walk. Psalms 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path".

Despite the trials, tribulations and temptations we face in this world today, God assured us in his word that is Grace is sufficient to see us through. 2Corinthians 12:9 "But he said to me, "my Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me".

Holding on to God's word and his promises by Faith gives us strength to move on and overcome the World's system through Christ. John 16:33 "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world".

As Christians, it takes doing away with fear and doubt in us and replacing them with Courage and Boldness so as to stand firm in our Faith in God in the world today. 2Timothy 1:7 "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline".

Being a Christian today takes having the mind of Christ and the fruit of the Holy Spirit in us to enable a life of holiness, love and righteousness to conquer the challenges that come in life. 1Corinthians 2:16 "For who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ". Galatians 5:22 "But the spirit produces LOVE, JOY, PREACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS and SELF CONTROL. There is no law against such things as these".

To sum up, as Christians, we have all it takes to stand firm and make a change and difference in this world today. A quick reminder of what it takes to be true Christians are:-
*Studying, Meditating and Obeying God's word at all times. Psalms 1:2, Psalms 119:11, John 14:15.
*Having Faith / trusting in God and believing in his promises in our lives. Hebrew 11:6, Romans 1:17, John 5:24, Ephesians 2:8.
*Becoming like Christ (Christ like). 1Corinthians 11:1, Galatians 3:27, Romans 8:29, Phillipians 2:5.

Above all, Love like Jesus, for God is Love and Love is God. For if we lack Love in all we do, we lack the greatest of all virtues as Christians in this world today. John 3:16, Ephesians 2;4-5, 1John 4:9-11.

Make that choice to be an Extravagant Christian, a true Worshiper, a representative of God's Kingdom and a soldier in God's army.
It is not a world of challenges, strife, trials and temptation; it is the "WORLD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND GRACE".
