Beloved,
You and I have been made one through the sacrifices of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14 v 6) This means that Jesus, to all who are Christians, is the model for living a life that will lead to eternal peace. He's the grand teacher of the Word of God. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God" this, in essence is telling us that we cannot separate God from His Word. the Word of God is the way, the truth and the life we must lead as Christians.
What is the Word of God?
As Christians, we are obliged to study the bible endlessly (Joshua 1:8) The Word of God is the manuscript for a successful and prosperous life. Christ the Son never lived in lack. This is because while with us in flesh, he was being the manifestation of God's Word. God's commandment to man is to "Love". Love is so strong and important that in 1st John 4 v 8 it says "whoever know not Love know not God; for God is Love". There it is, the phenomenon used to describe God; Love.
What is this Love?
Many of us today already know the difference between Love and Lust. A few people purposely pretend to mix it up but yes, a large number of people actually mistake love for an emotion felt from time to time. Is Love truly an emotion? Are we fulfilling the Love of God by saying I Love You to someone, anyone? No and No. Love is not an emotion, it is part of a person's character, a godly person. Jesus said to his audience "But I say to you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same" Luke 6:27-32
Jesus pointed out, the difference between the usual emotional love and the godly love in this scripture. If we do good only to those who make us feel good, we are no better than unbelievers, as Christians, we ought to do good, even to those who we do not agree with.
My hope for today is that we put aside every spirit of envy, unforgiveness, frustration, depression, selfishness and pride, as we strive to be God's recruits here on earth, showing his undying , supernatural and unselfish love by giving alms to the needy, supporting the less privileged around us, respecting the opinions of others and showing good examples to the people we come across everyday.
thanks,
Love, from Mona
